Polina Botticelli
I was born in Siberia under the name Burlakova, in the city of Irkutsk in 1987. My father was engaged in tourism, so for most of my childhood I grew up in the taiga and on the shores of Lake Baikal, where shamanism and Buddhism flourish, which influenced my aesthetic and spiritual preferences. My mother is an artist and art teacher, and she instilled in me a craving for creativity. |
In 2000 I graduated from the Irkutsk Regional School of Arts, in 2004 I entered the Irkutsk Pedagogical University at the Faculty of Art, continued studies at the St. Petersburg Pedagogical University, transferred to the Moscow Pedagogical University, and successfully graduated from it in 2010 with a diploma in the department of arts and crafts.
The diploma work "Decorative panel-triptych in the felting technique" was rated "Five with praise". Here is the video presentation of the diploma: |
In 2011, I returned to my homeland, where I was engaged in self-education, printing design, painting and clothing design, looking for my style in illustration, doing wall paintings, filming short video clips. I created the ShadoBado clothing brand. The video presentation of the first collection of clothes won the first place three times in various competitions and short film festivals, including the international competition "Fisheye": |
Around the same time I began to try myself in the "drawing over a photo" or "photo + graphics" technique. The creative duet with the photographer Nadezhda Grineva "Flying Fish" held three exhibitions, the last two in one of the main museums of the city of Irkutsk, the Museum-Estate of them. Sukachev.
I performed branding and wall paintings in the "Leto" beauty studio. |
In 2016, I went in search of my dream, ended up in Montenegro and began to blog, which resulted in a book, or rather in the trilogy "An artist should be happy", consisting of 69 chapters, for each of which I drew illustration using digital graphics.
In the process of creating the book, I established myself in my style as an illustrator, and then completed an order for watercolor illustrations for the collection of stories "Cat's Honey".
I continued to be engaged in design, illustrations, painting of clothes. I has done branding and a series of wall paintings for the villa "Olivia Kućica".
In 2018, from Montenegro, I moved to live in Berlin, where I completed and published my book, completed some orders for painting clothes and illustrations, continued to blog and also started a video blog Polina Botticelli. In the summer of 2019, I gave birth to a daughter.
In 2020 I open a miracle of ceramic for myself and felt in love with clay. I opened my Etsy-shop and start to sell my ceramics there.
In July 2022 I took part in the art exhibition "When did fairytales change" in Liebig12 gallery with my ceramic works and one painting on canvas.
In July 2023 — in the collective exhibition of artists in "Orange" gallery, Berlin. There was 4 paintings and 9 ceramic works.
In the end of 2023 I started to paint abstract paintings on canvas.
